First Episode
In the first episode of Harper's Island, people gather for a wedding on Harper's Island. What they do not know is that there is a serial killer among them. Soon it will be a horrific event that will lead to many killings and on the 13th episode, the killer will be revealed. This show was just like the beginning of the book. There were a lot of new characters, it was pretty boring, and nothing very eventful happened.
Harpers Island
An interesting thing about the show is the amount of characters, in the book there are only ten main characters, but in the show there are at least twenty main characters. Although there are some similarities to the book, the show and the book do not directly correspond. None of the names are the same and their is even a bride and her father in the show (Thomas Wellington and Trish Wellington), along those lines there is a lot more family relationship in the show then in the book.

Ending!
Personally, I hated the ending. I really didn't like how we didn't get to find out who the killer was all along. Maybe it was implied that U.N. Owen was Vera Claythorne because she was but the last "little soldier" but I still feel like there could have been a better conclusion. It was left really open ended. I was also very surprised when Vera hanged herself at the very end of the book. It didn't make sense to me that she would go through all that trouble while she was on the island to stay alive and at the end, take her own life. It is logical because she probably wouldn't have been able to get off the island anyway but it was still a little bit strange to me. I think the ending was very creative with Armstrong running away, being found dead, Blore being found dead, and then Vera shooting Lombard but I would have liked to have found out who it was that sent all of them there and was slowly killing each of them off.

Chapter 12-14
In our discussion today we concluded that we all think it's very possible that the killer is Doctor Armstrong, certain group members also have suspicions about Vera. This is a possibility because she is awake when others are asleep and her outlook on this situation is rather unique. We are all curious about why those specific ten people are all dying one by one, we believe that this is because of their past and the crimes they may or may not have committed. We are also curious about who sent them the invitations to the island because we believe that the killer is the one who sent them, and we are assuming that the killer is amongst them. The killer seems very experienced and he also must have been very experienced on their lives, enough to know what to say to each of them to get them to come to the island.

Chapters 9-12
These chapters were very eventful. Three more characters died and the idea that "Mr. Owen" is one of the guests in the house was surfaced. Mr. Justice Wargrave thought of the idea that the murderer couldn't be an outsider because the island was searched and no one was found. Everyone in the house has different suspicions and different reasons as to why they think the person they suspect has committed the crimes. The first death of the set of chapters was the death of General MacArthur. He was sitting out by the sea all morning when he suffered from a blow to the head. Mr. Rogers was the second to die. He was out of the house cutting wood one morning when someone hit him from the back of the head with a large wood chopper. The handle of the chopper was wiped clean, therefore the guests have no evidence as to who could have killed the butler. The little china soldiers keep disappearing as guest die and no one has seen who has been taking them or where they are going. Miss Emily Brent was the third to be killed. At the breakfast table the same morning Mr. Rogers died she started feeling giddy and went to sit down while the others cleaned up from breakfast. She and the others thought it was a bee that stung her in the side of her neck but it was later discovered that it was someone injecting poisonous- maybe cyanide- into her system. I think the killer is Dr. Armstrong. He could have easily killed the first two victims with drugs as he is a doctor. He was the last one besides Vera to see him before he died. He was also very capable of killing Mr. Rogers. He admitted to having a syringe and could have easily poisoned Miss Brent with the same thing he killed Mrs. Rogers and Mr Morris with.

Chapters 4-8
The next four chapters were much more interesting than the first four. So many things happened in this set. The first major thing was that one of the people on the island, Anthony Marston, died. Apparently he poisoned himself but none of the other people could wrap their heads around why he would do something like that. He was young, full of life, and seemed to have his whole life ahead of him. The second shocking twist was that the morning after Anthony Marston died, Mrs. Rogers was found to have died in her sleep. Mrs. Rogers works for the Owens at their mansion. There are many theories of what happened to her. One being that her husband poisoned her because she knew about a murder they both committed together. Some people in the house think this, while others think that she was just old and she died peacefully in her sleep. Many people in the house are nervous that there is someone on this island that wants all of them dead and will not stop at anything to see that happen. When a few of the men search the island to try to find this Mr. Owen that has invited them all here but is no where to be found, they start to get very nervous and they realize that they will not be leaving this island and that they will die on Soldier Island.

first 4 chapters
The first four chapters were not very eventful and the number of characters that were introduced was overwhelming and it was especially hard to keep the characters straight and I hope that as the book goes on it gets easier to not get them too confused. I was really surprised when the voice came on the loudspeaker accusing every one of the guests of murder. The main concern I had with the first 4 chapters was that there were so many characters but I have a feeling this is going to be a really good book!
